Summit Recap & GSUN Connections

The Opening Plenary Session of the GSUN '25 Summit at the University of Queensland.

GSUN '25 Summit Recap

The second annual GSUN Summit was a smashing success last month at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. More than 200 athletes, academics, members of the media, league and federation, government, NGO and industry representatives gathered to discuss how sport can drive innovation. This truly international conference saw participants from more than a dozen countries.

“It was an incredible summit with great sessions and awesome people from different expertise in the sports domain. I experienced two days of knowledge and excitement with great food. I thank all the organisers and GSUN for their incredible efforts to make this event a grand success. I would like to be involved more with GSUN.” — GSUN '25 Attendee

Highlighting GSUN Connections

GSUN members from around the world are collaborating on research projects, student and faculty exchange, and partnerships between academics and external stakeholders are applying research to real world applications.

Earlier this month, Loughborough University representatives — including GSUN Chair Jo Maher — met with GSUN colleagues at Waseda University in Tokyo and the two universities co-hosted a symposium on October 1 (pictured above).

Just last week, the University of Tsukuba welcomed fellow GSUN members from the University of Cape Town to share the two institutions’ research strengths and initiatives.

Submit your GSUN Connection via the form on our website to be featured in the GSUN monthly newsletter, on the GSUN website and/or on social media.
